Why hire a web designer?

They're all over the TV and on social media. Wix, Weebly, Squarespace - build your own website in an hour. So why pay someone else if you can do it yourself?

Because those ads are there to sell a product - not to help you build your business.

I've had 3 different clients who had built websites themselves - then came to me to fix them or completely rebuild them from scratch. Although Wix is really pretty user friendly, DIYers run into lots of trouble. They build a site from a template - and end up with a site that looks like dozens of other sites built on the same template. They end up with huge spaces they don't know how to get rid of; random bits of images, shapes, and text; no SEO; weirdly displayed URLs...the list goes on and on.

Web design and development is like anything else - to be good at it, you have to practice, and build your expertise. If you want to spend the time to grow your skills, you can almost certainly create a lovely site using a platform like Wix. But that's time taken away from what you do best - your BUSINESS.

Do yourself and your business a favor, and hire a pro. You'll be glad you did.
